Her new nickname currently is Digger, though.</p><p>So far, her bladder issues have been resolved. She has been on the special diet and her latest checkup showed no stones. This, unfortunately, will be a lifelong issue for her, so she needs the diet that the Dr. proscribed. I have hopes, though, of feeding her a more natural diet. I have found a homeopathic vet and hope to get her off of or mostly off of the kibble. Her health is what matters and she's doing fine now.</p><p>Except for the digging.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2Yu7EYoDanXACnDzBZc6NjlHHPXLCOSJ6hqKMBzLUYUEXlqSTUBC-vimEbDJATCBvyXJ4YsXQHktaaTctCt7mj-HVHC-sDyELQbTFiRtuNDWfZqy3QfI2rfE3U3B90BPZEUIg5P8EELI8H5qzO5rc-oWEFpAAbVaHKVAHLunU2WT8laR53CdlnO5/s1672/11.16.22%20Bailey%20tongue%20out.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1672" data-original-width="1254" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2Yu7EYoDanXACnDzBZc6NjlHHPXLCOSJ6hqKMBzLUYUEXlqSTUBC-vimEbDJATCBvyXJ4YsXQHktaaTctCt7mj-HVHC-sDyELQbTFiRtuNDWfZqy3QfI2rfE3U3B90BPZEUIg5P8EELI8H5qzO5rc-oWEFpAAbVaHKVAHLunU2WT8laR53CdlnO5/s320/11.16.22%20Bailey%20tongue%20out.JPEG" width="240" /></a></div><br />We planted grass in the side yard, but last summer we stopped watering and it's gone now. The water bill won out over that project. Now it's just dirt. The dogs don't mind. They run along the fence chasing people on the other side walking their dogs. It's fun. Bailey, though, has found out that digging is also fun. She doesn't make big holes, but I worry that she might dig under the fence, so we discourage it. With the rain season coming up we also have the issue of mud control. So, we put up a little fence so we can block it off when necessary. The dogs don't like that at all, as you may have guessed.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxi_fQRW6CPQNNWg2ogsRmqrdHG3aS5y6q52jEis5JD-dszec8302hlwlsRxNSnxlcqUcJZgguOh6ROrz01asALXZprkjBCiM6xhl7_x5EKcgsPqTDEMqMEi-KSAqArKDP6bucMJt-I_gg_1Y4fYnIJJEIMYy4f8pw65flH-7vC61BCffAUDrB0svK/s1619/11.16.22%20Free%20Face%20Licks.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1619" data-original-width="1295" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxi_fQRW6CPQNNWg2ogsRmqrdHG3aS5y6q52jEis5JD-dszec8302hlwlsRxNSnxlcqUcJZgguOh6ROrz01asALXZprkjBCiM6xhl7_x5EKcgsPqTDEMqMEi-KSAqArKDP6bucMJt-I_gg_1Y4fYnIJJEIMYy4f8pw65flH-7vC61BCffAUDrB0svK/s320/11.16.22%20Free%20Face%20Licks.PNG" width="256" /></a></div>Bailey has been introduced to dressing up lately. Not long ago she had a mass taken off one of her front elbows. It was cancer free but was making it difficult for her to lay down and she'd limp a little. We've been working on her weight to help with her getting around. She has some back issues and has been on pain meds for quite a while, but lately she's been having more trouble. The only way we can tell if she's uncomfortable is by her mood. She always grumps at the other dogs when they invade her space, but sometimes the level of grump increases. That used to happen on walk days, and sometimes we give her an extra pain pill at night for her comfort. <div><br /></div><div>Lately she is having a lot of grumpy days and groans a lot when getting up or laying down. And she has been limping a lot on that same leg she had the surgery on. She has a big lump near the top of the leg, and it has gotten bigger, so it's time to get looked at again. </div><div><br /></div><div>She's still happy, especially around 3:30 when she knows that Bill is on the way home from work, then right after dinner when she expects something from the dog toy drawer. She doesn't stand too often for very long. We move a comfy dog bed wherever she seems to plant herself for the day.</div><div><br /></div><div>She has an appointment on Friday with the vet. Hoping for the best. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_bGwXC-Pe1h5vuszA0DxPomZcyR-MFNOTiRBSxWGpDMy0bnCWe_DZv3m05RQQ5_A8x7aIa8M5Q81zko5gbOpQz5Gj3lv3hxGPfgyYDS_FY5KipefqfQoOn-nneNoFM1lXDKFWtSOI_v3YFe4hWDNYL5tNTa1hTBj4VFlkgq-wgUXoX-O9LxZEC31a/s1379/9.20.22%20Maddie%20on%20the%20bed%20resized.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1295" data-original-width="1379" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_bGwXC-Pe1h5vuszA0DxPomZcyR-MFNOTiRBSxWGpDMy0bnCWe_DZv3m05RQQ5_A8x7aIa8M5Q81zko5gbOpQz5Gj3lv3hxGPfgyYDS_FY5KipefqfQoOn-nneNoFM1lXDKFWtSOI_v3YFe4hWDNYL5tNTa1hTBj4VFlkgq-wgUXoX-O9LxZEC31a/s320/9.20.22%20Maddie%20on%20the%20bed%20resized.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Ellie doesn't look like she enjoys dressing up. I called the vet to make an appointment for her to be looked at because the wet floors, wet carpet and wet kennel has really become a problem. They had a cancellation, so we got to see the vet sooner than expected.</p><p>She was happy for the car ride, of course, but once that vet tech went to take her temperature, well, she voiced her opinion of the whole thing with a deep, angry growl that we don't hear at home. I was a bit worried that she'd bite and glad she didn't because it was Mary who was holding on to her while the tech did the deed.</p><p>I explained my concerns and related the prior visit with a different vet and waited for the vet to come in to see us.</p><p>She had an Xray to see if she had bladder stones and they will see if she could have a UTI. We were inundated with if it's this and if it's that and what would need to be done and chastised for not doing certain things and encouraged to do other things. Until we know the results of the tests, no decisions can be made, according to what you just told me.</p><p>We gathered up Bailey and stopped at the desk to hand over the $787 they charged me and we were on our way home.</p><p><br /></p><p>The vet should call sometime today with results.</p><p>I'm sure I'll be growling like Bailey when I hear how much it'll cost.</p>Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739771416654715640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237459302476647528.post-31314764755225797162022-04-30T07:39:00.000-07:002022-04-30T07:39:47.612-07:00Oh, Piddle Pants (a.k.a. Forever. She was not to have any other kind of food (Nothing!) or it wouldn't work.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Yeah, no.</div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">When she gets ready to pass a stone, she has an uncontrollable release and it's usually big. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Poor dog. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">We don't scold her when this happens, we just clean it up.</div></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We started all the dogs on grain free food and the best quality that we could afford. We also started supplementing it with home-made food (Turkey, rice and lots of vegetables). She also gets some natural supplements to support her bladder and kidneys. We've been doing this for quite a while now and the episodes subsided. She's had an occasional accident in the house and we watched for any evidence of passing a stone, but it can be hard to find. The fact that we haven't found any stones is good news, I think. The supplements are to help break them up before they get big. Since she can't tell me, I'm assuming they're doing what they're supposed to do.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVC1d9wJ-fbQNagIDK32y4yjfklWFJbQ4y-QzB2JDI9OvKXQQMacjV9e1J4jrrATFPkEQyyRnDgjLmhD3xwVfxJY7PMUEFdR4v3ggIuvZp6sdl9Z7mNhNLlWkdF_ovvjjoINfcWeC7T0OXC-2baA1waiLEdAlWQ1SUDrr4Y50wSkKBSWbFAKCmbNRr/s2048/IMG_2092.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVC1d9wJ-fbQNagIDK32y4yjfklWFJbQ4y-QzB2JDI9OvKXQQMacjV9e1J4jrrATFPkEQyyRnDgjLmhD3xwVfxJY7PMUEFdR4v3ggIuvZp6sdl9Z7mNhNLlWkdF_ovvjjoINfcWeC7T0OXC-2baA1waiLEdAlWQ1SUDrr4Y50wSkKBSWbFAKCmbNRr/s320/IMG_2092.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Lately, though....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Her accidents have been more frequent, but I don't think it's because of the bladder stones. She's never really learned how to ask to go outside when she needs to at night...when we're sleeping. She lets us know that she took care of the problem herself by leaving a big, wet, stinking puddle on the carpet next to the bed right where our feet hit the floor. Sometimes it's out in the hall and once in a while she even makes it off the carpet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Starting to piss me off.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We scold her a bit. I wag my finger at her and remind her to piddle outside. And we call her Piddle Pants. She knows. She does.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bill is off on his annual fishing trip and this makes the dogs mourn. They don't know why he's not walking through the door at 4 o'clock. I think Bailey is showing her disappointment by peeing in the house. Mary and I were out all day and Bailey stayed in her kennel with no mishaps. That night she flooded the carpet in the bedroom and again on the kitchen floor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So last night she slept in her kennel. Got up this morning, no accidents in the kennel. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, I don't know. We shall see how it goes. In the meantime, the carpet cleaner needs to be revved up again. The big fans come out. We have to be certain the carpet dries thoroughly. We can't have any mold. Not one spore.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739771416654715640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237459302476647528.post-83719666508548611952022-04-19T10:57:00.005-07:002022-04-19T10:57:41.970-07:00Pictures! How I organize: Revisited<p> In 2019 I did<a href="https://deannascraps2.blogspot.com/2019/06/so-thankful-for-digital-photography-i.html" target="_blank"> this post</a> showing how I organize all my photos.</p><p>Lately, I've been seeing a lot of people ask how to sort their pictures. I see a lot of people printing the same pictures over because they don't have a system. I totally get that! I have done it SO many times, EVEN since I've had such a detailed system.</p><p>Some of the changes is how I edit. I pretty much just use my iPhone. That's what I use all the time. Although, I do have to dust off the 'big' camera for an event soon.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7kr9iUKFa5XZAJz-vxSEN7dPSSXY5h1QiYBUwwFuSkTFTJAMsXLr6egEUcJg8brAyidxAIyYzvRLC-aOzRxa7XWyGgIHsLqOmqKnILzzAGIbTvPvi4slRkQNhwnAuB-owOsVbGNntc7PNILjZrwU2yV2OVh7B6mas5vzuAnHLeNyt2g_-5zzXjycz/s1264/PicTapGoSS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="816" data-original-width="1264" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7kr9iUKFa5XZAJz-vxSEN7dPSSXY5h1QiYBUwwFuSkTFTJAMsXLr6egEUcJg8brAyidxAIyYzvRLC-aOzRxa7XWyGgIHsLqOmqKnILzzAGIbTvPvi4slRkQNhwnAuB-owOsVbGNntc7PNILjZrwU2yV2OVh7B6mas5vzuAnHLeNyt2g_-5zzXjycz/s320/PicTapGoSS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I used to use this a lot! I think I changed to just editing on my iPhone because I would get a little obsessive with editing, trying to make it perfect. I need to let go of the idea of perfect. I tend to take a LOT of photos sometimes, and after getting 2020 in albums, I had a LOT of printed pictures left over and even more that were left unprinted. 2020 had TONS of doggo photos because of... well, ya know... the plague year.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This year; not so many pictures yet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I used to sort and load everything into Historian, a program by Forever (Creative Memories), but for some reason I can no longer get into that program. I still think it's wise to print, at least your favorites and big events, and save them online, in the cloud, on a photo site, whatever. Printed pictures can be lost or damaged. There are several amazing scrapbooking artists that I follow for inspiration, and I want to do a post providing the links to their amazing scrapbooking pages on Social Media. (It's in the works.) </p><p>Stuck is what comes to mind so many times when I sit at my table and have no idea what to do. Since I started putting pictures on paper creatively way back in 1998 (really?) it's always been a joy to me. Life gets in the way and the last few years the world has sucker punched all of us. It's been hard to feel that joy again. But I'm trying. </p><p>Thanks to the artists I follow I've gotten a bit of it back, but it has been difficult. I tend to stress about the quality of my photography of my pages so I can share, but I've decided to just click, edit and post. It's all about inspiration for someone, not a contest, right? </p><p>Here are a few I've done in the last month or so! </p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcMtLThaF7x8PezE02M0_msH7EmRoKrPXBqoZ5ZsTLHDAxHbIE5pepKuKLMlXHngpU_EZ3--uQAFPNakoLODqDFiEbUxMiYWXyCz1JP6n6XLunA55nzOtsVLh76w1E8fNQ3TrggaLqN5OCaGX_xNWPS0ohnGm8W2V6hUuJEllvNqevJ4CuzKPD18oy/s2474/SYS22March4.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1271" data-original-width="2474" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcMtLThaF7x8PezE02M0_msH7EmRoKrPXBqoZ5ZsTLHDAxHbIE5pepKuKLMlXHngpU_EZ3--uQAFPNakoLODqDFiEbUxMiYWXyCz1JP6n6XLunA55nzOtsVLh76w1E8fNQ3TrggaLqN5OCaGX_xNWPS0ohnGm8W2V6hUuJEllvNqevJ4CuzKPD18oy/w640-h328/SYS22March4.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mary and I drove back to Georgia not too long after we moved to Las Vegas to visit friends. Of course, that didn't happen, but he was an adorable puppy.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVzvwdk7aSVLBU4Xi1hcbr7ImE7JTJOj9b3FDfEZQDXPlPpgkMfUPFeuBObCrv0k3lbihWcr9q1S6jcBwTL26WqFrNUv8IxocV1chgXhQmwMQJzqgnIruVR6nHR3pEQf2GG76hwo6yy762NfpMDvPbrHwb1DiqZorcINjD7VLhljUNUblQh0HlLMgd/s2453/IMG_1693.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1282" data-original-width="2453" height="334" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVzvwdk7aSVLBU4Xi1hcbr7ImE7JTJOj9b3FDfEZQDXPlPpgkMfUPFeuBObCrv0k3lbihWcr9q1S6jcBwTL26WqFrNUv8IxocV1chgXhQmwMQJzqgnIruVR6nHR3pEQf2GG76hwo6yy762NfpMDvPbrHwb1DiqZorcINjD7VLhljUNUblQh0HlLMgd/w640-h334/IMG_1693.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div>After the months and months of preparing to move, moving, unpacking and settling in, I found a 3-day scrapbooking event in Las Vegas and I signed up immediately! (Moved again shortly before) I had already gone on my 'Mom Trip' and had pictures developed and some pages organized, so I was really happy to have 3 days, close to home, to work on my album with a huge room full of other scrapbook crazy people! It was a Harry Potter theme and the organizers did a spectacular job! So much fun! I really miss those kinds of crops, but still don't feel comfortable in a room full of people these days. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3Hf1L2OyAQ5DeeTKWlNwybyr-vZrvL7RnT0uXOOxVrJPQtMjZx-0pt-Mik_4l4uWW9TLLSQNIphPH0-KEJaqeiEanh071sOkZfiWoc2RIq3dK9BzVCHqCxxbkfrzqHHOAh2i6D9ubgdTfR9_sy7HKUPbSRf8MbgLnkh4JJy8iGmyKrSegj5Ax-r2l/s2465/IMG_1690.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1275" data-original-width="2465" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3Hf1L2OyAQ5DeeTKWlNwybyr-vZrvL7RnT0uXOOxVrJPQtMjZx-0pt-Mik_4l4uWW9TLLSQNIphPH0-KEJaqeiEanh071sOkZfiWoc2RIq3dK9BzVCHqCxxbkfrzqHHOAh2i6D9ubgdTfR9_sy7HKUPbSRf8MbgLnkh4JJy8iGmyKrSegj5Ax-r2l/w640-h332/IMG_1690.JPEG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>That lady there on this layout is one of the organizers of the crop! We played tourist a couple of times and visited The Strip and some local casinos, but that's really not something we like to do, so we looked elsewhere for things to do outside the house! We would pass this place on our drives called Cactus Jacks. It's on the edge of the ever growing homes being built and the road to Pahrump. (Weird name for a tiny town, but a pretty drive to get there!) One day we stopped in to see what they had. <div><br /></div><div>So many awesome things! It was really fun to go through. </div><div><br /></div><div>These extra photos are attached to the layout. They are awesome things that have been around for a while, but I had no idea! Well, almost...<p> After our long, drawn out move from Savannah to Vegas, I took a trip by myself to California and spent time with some of my most favorite people! I roamed around Southern California and went to 3 amusements parks! I started my scrapbook pretty quickly after the trip, but, of course, other things got in the way and yet another move! 😝</p><p>I've finished it though! </p><p>Well, except for the first page.</p><p>And the proper album that should be coming for all the pages to live in comfortably.</p><p>Here are a few peeks at a few of my favorite pages!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vTtV75KP32s/YU3mPjsIlFI/AAAAAAAAttE/LPCfKo5sDogC125KPv9zGuMQq7ChD8BsgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1666/IMG_0735.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1573" data-original-width="1666" height="378" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vTtV75KP32s/YU3mPjsIlFI/AAAAAAAAttE/LPCfKo5sDogC125KPv9zGuMQq7ChD8BsgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h378/IMG_0735.JPEG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MX2itWimF3I/YU3mPumegGI/AAAAAAAAttM/kG75OuYXlrIgp23r543MOgzYkc-4Bll-wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1773/IMG_0736.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1773" data-original-width="1773" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MX2itWimF3I/YU3mPumegGI/AAAAAAAAttM/kG75OuYXlrIgp23r543MOgzYkc-4Bll-wCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0736.JPEG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Heading out of Vegas. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o_5QQG8Ot_0/YU3mPjZ4NbI/AAAAAAAAttI/h3TdnsOhUYQNEJsIetLLYJZHz1KQIw0pgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1773/IMG_0737.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1773" data-original-width="1773" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o_5QQG8Ot_0/YU3mPjZ4NbI/AAAAAAAAttI/h3TdnsOhUYQNEJsIetLLYJZHz1KQIw0pgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0737.JPEG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Drove around my childhood neighborhood and stopped at the site of the In & Out we went to as kids in Baldwin Park.</div><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><span> </span><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4leuyKV7yhU/YU3mP7I6-0I/AAAAAAAAttQ/2K4MvUMNsdg32NPSBN-aQSX9b8J8B64SACLcBGAsYHQ/s1773/IMG_0738.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1773" data-original-width="1773" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4leuyKV7yhU/YU3mP7I6-0I/AAAAAAAAttQ/2K4MvUMNsdg32NPSBN-aQSX9b8J8B64SACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0738.JPEG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Bailey was new to the family and didn't understand where I was. When I heard about wild burros when we moved to Las Vegas we were always on the lookout hoping to catch a glimpse during our drives around the area. I thought I might never see them as our move out of the state was growing near, but one day, on one last drive, I spotted them off the highway heading out of Pahrump! They were pretty far away, but I managed a couple pictures! Good enough! I was so happy to finally spot them!</p><p>And! I actually got these pictures on a scrapbook page for my 2020 album! (I can't believe I'm actually working on a 2020 album) </p><p>Using a sketch from <a href="https://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/2021/08/card-sketch-200.html" target="_blank">Sketch N Scrap</a>, I dug into some old paper from Basic Grey and got these burros down on paper! They were used to having the park right across the street from the townhome in Las Vegas and even though we have a pretty good sized yard for some running, dog parks are always fun.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The closest one we found is in Yuba City, but it was pretty much a big dirt lot out in the sun. The dogs haven't been there. The one we found in Lincoln is really pretty! Lots of trees and grass. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The first visit with Ellie could have been pretty boring. She's our runner. She loves to meet a dog and just run. And run. And run. The park appeared empty when we got there, but once inside we saw someone on the far end with their dog. Ellie quickly introduced herself and they had quite a romp together! We chatted with the owner for quite a while. I think Ellie was quite happy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZTXoiOkSyDg/YRP0beO55yI/AAAAAAAAtng/KZJggrotZFYmB6iuu8DvrDoS5sJAcbuFACPcBGAYYCw/s2425/10.23.20%2BDog%2BPark%2BLincoln.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1296" data-original-width="2425" height="342" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZTXoiOkSyDg/YRP0beO55yI/AAAAAAAAtng/KZJggrotZFYmB6iuu8DvrDoS5sJAcbuFACPcBGAYYCw/w640-h342/10.23.20%2BDog%2BPark%2BLincoln.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>I used Creative Memories collection Boho Escape for this layout! It helps SO much with a starting place! Also, participating in challenges gives me something to work toward, so I really appreciate sketch sites like <a href="https://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sketch 'n Scrap</a>!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It's rare that I do a one page layout, but how I've gone about my 2020 album is a bit out of the norm, so I have some empty spots to fill in. I also tend to be more detailed in my pages (for some, anyway). The sketch I used was a simple one, so I decided to just not think too hard (oh, so hard) and just put it together.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y_PdTI84Gag/YQ_nISTohII/AAAAAAAAtmg/4e3pKaIrJGsjuW38qLoV7_CHwt2F7i9BQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1462/2.29.20%2BGoofy%2BMaddie.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1444" data-original-width="1462" height="395" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y_PdTI84Gag/YQ_nISTohII/AAAAAAAAtmg/4e3pKaIrJGsjuW38qLoV7_CHwt2F7i9BQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h395/2.29.20%2BGoofy%2BMaddie.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/2021/07/sketch-n-scrap-230.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="1152" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QCUry1jpWtI/YQ_poZs2LcI/AAAAAAAAtmo/XfVD3maAl8kRQlSjCiaEO7YAcC93lvcgACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Sketch%2B%2523230.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>We catch some really funny expressions from Maddie. We shopped, we laughed and goofed around trying to relieve the stress.</p><p>So, participating in a Challenge over at <a href="https://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sketch & Scrap</a> , here is a layout of lunch! Well, ya know, lunch is important, right? Especially when you are not eating gluten (bread, pasta, a million other things), but find an alternative and it works! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QM4Tbf6HiO4/YPGbkF7ypFI/AAAAAAAAtks/Lois4VnbSkoIr_2vNKSuHA3KAW8k9h-HACLcBGAsYHQ/s1858/2.20.20%2BIn%2Band%2BOut%2BVictorville%2B.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1858" data-original-width="1693" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QM4Tbf6HiO4/YPGbkF7ypFI/AAAAAAAAtks/Lois4VnbSkoIr_2vNKSuHA3KAW8k9h-HACLcBGAsYHQ/w365-h400/2.20.20%2BIn%2Band%2BOut%2BVictorville%2B.JPEG" width="365" /></a></div><br /><p>And here is the sketch I used for the layout. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0WDiRFxBVJ4/YPGcG0e2dnI/AAAAAAAAtk0/QdA4yBXx3f4fAnIKnedTyC2q33NqhAqcwCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/7.14.21%2BJuly%2BCrop%2BChallenge%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0WDiRFxBVJ4/YPGcG0e2dnI/AAAAAAAAtk0/QdA4yBXx3f4fAnIKnedTyC2q33NqhAqcwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/7.14.21%2BJuly%2BCrop%2BChallenge%2B1.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739771416654715640noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237459302476647528.post-9707687169690637402021-07-14T09:01:00.000-07:002021-07-14T09:01:13.802-07:00Bailey's Turn at the Vet!<p>On July 3rd, Bailey had an accident on the dog bed. Mary saw it. A pool of potty on the new dog bed. It took a bit to figure out what dog had been laying there, but later that night there was no question. Bailey was laying on the bed when Mary noticed she was laying in a puddle and looking concerned that she may be in trouble. </p><p>While cleaning up the dog bed we found a pea-sized 'stone', along with 'crystals' in the puddle. We were quite perplexed, but after doing a bit of reading we figured it was bladder stones and a call to the vet was needed.</p><p>The appointment was a week out, so we kept an eye on her; made sure she drank a lot of water, made sure she was actually going potty outside and preparing for more mishaps in the house. </p><p>She never had any more mishaps and she didn't seem in discomfort, but it didn't mean she was done with it all.</p><p>Yesterday was her vet visit, so off to Lincoln we went! She's a pretty good dog in the car, but prefers one of her friends to go along. Alone, she settles in and usually lays down for the ride, popping up to look out the window when we slow to a stop.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_HsQseMksYI/YO8Banrl5-I/AAAAAAAAtjA/INrn6gY6RhsSSMhw1T5GRgFgs7H4-24_ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4244.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_HsQseMksYI/YO8Banrl5-I/AAAAAAAAtjA/INrn6gY6RhsSSMhw1T5GRgFgs7H4-24_ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4244.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><p>The visit with the vet went well. He did some lab work and we should know today what he finds. Then he will let us know if we should bring her back for an X-ray to see if she has more stones that need to be taken care of. Apparently, this is a common problem for a lot of dogs. There is a food that helps dissolve the stones. We will have to look into that. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VToHBrPs2n0/YO8CaFyE4MI/AAAAAAAAtjI/KT_8sGrzdm0_bwZJTvZRoXA5nEohkj9swCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0164.JPEG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VToHBrPs2n0/YO8CaFyE4MI/AAAAAAAAtjI/KT_8sGrzdm0_bwZJTvZRoXA5nEohkj9swCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_0164.JPEG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Of course, after the visit we headed to PetsMart to get Bailey a toy. I mean, the Labs probably told her we would do that, so we just had to, right? She was a little nervous going into the store, but she did well! She wasn't too excited at the prospect of choosing a toy. I don't quite know why she nips dogs and people, and it's only happened a couple times, but I don't want to take the chance of any incidents. She was happy enough with just coming home and telling her dog friends all about her day. And Bill was home and that's just the best thing ever!! <p></p><p>So we shall see how this thing works out! Right now she's seems to be the silly little dog she's always been! Kind of a crappy birthday for most, but I think she was okay with that... once we left the vet.</p></div>Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739771416654715640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237459302476647528.post-29215709353312498972021-06-19T09:43:00.002-07:002021-06-19T09:43:48.578-07:00Maddie's Day Out!<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-im7GUu4U2z0/YMoqTs1CviI/AAAAAAAAtfU/ZLgMy1Jf8WAziufaXEPU5iTNLupH0cL-wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2457.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-im7GUu4U2z0/YMoqTs1CviI/AAAAAAAAtfU/ZLgMy1Jf8WAziufaXEPU5iTNLupH0cL-wCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_2457.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div>It wasn't just because she was jealous of Ellie's day out a couple of weeks ago, Maddie needed to be looked at again by a vet. We wanted a good exam, not just a quick look. She's getting older and we worry about how she has trouble getting up sometimes and how she's getting 'lumpy'. <p></p><div>We went to a vet in Lincoln after getting quite a few recommendations from our neighbors. They still have Covid restrictions for their office and don't let us back during the exam, but the doctor came out and explained everything, took his time and answered all our questions. He gave us two medications for Maddie as he believes her pain issues come from her spine and age. He answered all our questions as to what the meds were for and why it was okay for her to have them daily. As for the lumpiness, he said it's a common problem and if they seem to grow quickly to call him, but it's would be a lot of pain for the dog if they were to remove them without knowing if they were cancerous. So, we will continue to monitor them. They don't seem to bother her. </div><div><br /></div><div>We told him we monitored her activity; shortened walks, no more ball chasing and limiting jumping, since it seemed to make things worse, and he said, with the meds she should be able to do more. He said if she wants to do it, let her. I have to say, that since she's taken the meds she's been so happy and bouncy! I wish the dogs could tell us more when they are in pain or uncomfortable. She rarely whines when having trouble getting up, so I didn't know she was hurting like she was. The only indication of pain, I think, is when she's more grouchy with the other dogs. </div><div><br /></div><div>We felt good about this doctor right away, so off to the dog park we went! Of course, we weren't going to over do it, but she hadn't been to the park for a really long time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YdgK9osIKyI/YMos0buAcPI/AAAAAAAAtfc/r-StdvVKQScuQgyfZZISsuYdokRc36CrgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4031.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YdgK9osIKyI/YMos0buAcPI/AAAAAAAAtfc/r-StdvVKQScuQgyfZZISsuYdokRc36CrgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4031.JPEG" /></a></div>While walking from the car to the gated dog park, she found a ball that was graciously left by another park goer and Maddie just assumed it was a gift from heaven! <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bz3rM3x4I3Q/YMos0mZgPEI/AAAAAAAAtfk/ThTjgNYytkkeWhckbuL8JawkX-pJ8vncgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4036.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bz3rM3x4I3Q/YMos0mZgPEI/AAAAAAAAtfk/ThTjgNYytkkeWhckbuL8JawkX-pJ8vncgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4036.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OUYHi09lJ6M/YMos0oaKfpI/AAAAAAAAtfg/3y57qbvdT0orkRQoJeOQRj3XLswe_MkawCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4038.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OUYHi09lJ6M/YMos0oaKfpI/AAAAAAAAtfg/3y57qbvdT0orkRQoJeOQRj3XLswe_MkawCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4038.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d_I-5cLNz_A/YMos0xFJTGI/AAAAAAAAtfo/R2ZBZlA8nY00f7F1Gz8Fv_QjIVPGIsubACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4039.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d_I-5cLNz_A/YMos0xFJTGI/AAAAAAAAtfo/R2ZBZlA8nY00f7F1Gz8Fv_QjIVPGIsubACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4039.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwUDX-uMq1U/YMos16w40wI/AAAAAAAAtfw/Im5BQut2uC0sxQ-8sLR3bulZlwI8PxopwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4044.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwUDX-uMq1U/YMos16w40wI/AAAAAAAAtfw/Im5BQut2uC0sxQ-8sLR3bulZlwI8PxopwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4044.JPEG" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WaMO7d7quWs/YMos2ZojI6I/AAAAAAAAtf0/fpfuDi4-EXkPwEG5xGAtGmiwIui-k8SOwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4050.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WaMO7d7quWs/YMos2ZojI6I/AAAAAAAAtf0/fpfuDi4-EXkPwEG5xGAtGmiwIui-k8SOwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4050.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cgaYq4iAbio/YMos2zP4axI/AAAAAAAAtf4/kvo12IVnDPUtIfMjsIYrGEyWwecysWzUgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4051.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cgaYq4iAbio/YMos2zP4axI/AAAAAAAAtf4/kvo12IVnDPUtIfMjsIYrGEyWwecysWzUgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4051.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lpSEMRV8J18/YMos3Vb_YJI/AAAAAAAAtf8/zQ3tjosmAbggcLF_pZlWJUPmQ2IXp594wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_4052.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lpSEMRV8J18/YMos3Vb_YJI/AAAAAAAAtf8/zQ3tjosmAbggcLF_pZlWJUPmQ2IXp594wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_4052.JPEG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div>She carried it around the whole time we were in the park and was given several throws to chase it and retrieve it, only to drop the gooey thing at our feet and the feet of all the other people in the park, hoping for another throw.</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">A quick stop at Petsmart to indulge the Lab with a new toy was next on the list of course. She doesn't run away, she just loves to run! She has a good time walking and loves our new neighborhood here in California! When that harness goes on she is ready to go! She's happy and bouncy and you can just feel the excitement. There is no gated dog park here in the neighborhood, so I walk her as fast as I'm able on her walk. I just know that she wants to run.<p></p><p>It was time for a dog day out! </p><p>You might wonder why she was getting this special day. Well, Maddie has trouble with her hips and back, being a Lab/Great Dane mix, this is normal and she's 9 years old. She gets her walk, but it's slow and short. At the dog park all she wants to do is chase a ball. All day. We have to limit her running or she has a horrible painful day after. Annabell rambles around, sniffing and grazing. She doesn't care about socializing, really. And Bailey. Well, Bailey can't be trusted. She's developed a nipping issue and since we don't really know what triggers her, we don't feel comfortable taking her around other dogs, especially off leash.</p><p>Ellie, however, will take a torturous car ride in hopes of a dog park destination any time. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mhbug5tu7l8/YLJSauZlPVI/AAAAAAAAtcc/smPsXjneqO0caQMuTnj57C9vclyzn3rvgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2046/IMG_3772.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2046" data-original-width="1537" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mhbug5tu7l8/YLJSauZlPVI/AAAAAAAAtcc/smPsXjneqO0caQMuTnj57C9vclyzn3rvgCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_3772.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div>She sits in the back with her head pressed in-between the front seats, head hanging low, not watching out the windows at all until she feels us coming to a stop, then she'll look up and glance around looking for the ever hopeful sign of a dog park. I don't think she likes riding in the car. She loves the <i>idea</i> of the ride, but just wants to get to where we are going and then go home. <div><br /></div><div>Mary has physical therapy on Thursday and Ellie is often the topic of conversation, so she mentioned to them last week that we would have Ellie along and they all wanted to meet her! I went into the office and the first thing the receptionist asked was if Ellie was here. I wanted to get permission to bring her in first. </div><div><br /></div><div>Of course, Ellie was nervous. Her rapid sniffing as we approached the door to go in told me she was trying to identify the smell and I hoped she would recognize that this was not, in fact, the vet and she would relax a little. </div><div><br /></div><div>We only went into the front of the office, where everyone came over to greet her. She was nervous, but okay with meeting people. She felt comfortable enough after a couple pets to hop up in one of the two chairs there in the reception area. She popped up, turned around and plopped herself into that chair like she was a patient waiting for her scheduled time!</div><div><br /></div><div>There were three or four other people there for their appointments, so there was a lot of new noises and activity that made Ellie nervous, and we didn't plan on being in there long, just a little meet and greet. One woman was done with her therapy and she was just delighted to see Ellie there in the lobby. She walked right up and sat down as I told her about Ellie and she was okay to pet. Ellie didn't hesitate. There was a quick, cautious sniff, but then she just started kissing the lady's hand and rubbing up along side her, wagging and clearly happy to visit her. I was worried she'd try and jump in her lap, she was that happy. We sat and chatted a couple minutes then the lady told me her daughter was probably wondering where she was, as she was out in the car waiting for her. I told her I'd walk her out, if she'd like, so Ellie and I headed out the door while Mary was doing her PT thing.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mary is usually there for an hour or so, so I drove to the neighborhood adjoining the businesses there, certain there would be a park where Ellie could get out and walk for a while, instead of sitting in the car. A beautiful little park next to a school was found and off we went! She was hesitant, it was someplace new, but she bounced down the path with a happy wagging tail.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-58mD2xx4-BY/YLJVq-cIyOI/AAAAAAAAtck/l5Gd4wQ50-oz6NB1gnP7vdcpE_te6nu4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s480/IMG_2243.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="360" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-58mD2xx4-BY/YLJVq-cIyOI/AAAAAAAAtck/l5Gd4wQ50-oz6NB1gnP7vdcpE_te6nu4gCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_2243.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div>She wandered through the grass, following her nose and all the smells that were new and interesting until she found the right place to, well, you know. Doggie bags at the ready, I picked up her masterpiece and continued through the park. </div><div><br /></div><div>Ellie bounced around after seeing another dog, hoping that this new stranger would want to play, but, alas, it was not to be. She did spot the car while she was mournfully watching this other dog walk away from us and once that happened, all she wanted was to go back to the car.</div><div> </div><div>She headed back to the car with no sideways glance at anything! </div><div><br /></div><div>We found a semi-shady parking spot by the office, left the car running and the air on and waited for Mary to emerge from the office that was not the vet.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l7zq8tH4P8w/YLZ2lcaN4DI/AAAAAAAAtc4/mu-5tnoYKDg1huKeaevVDAWVPJX8CyudwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2247.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l7zq8tH4P8w/YLZ2lcaN4DI/AAAAAAAAtc4/mu-5tnoYKDg1huKeaevVDAWVPJX8CyudwCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_2247.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div>I was backed into the spot, so Ellie just kept an eye on the door.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wY6FKewWZiA/YLZ2lSzZ6oI/AAAAAAAAtc8/fSBFWlKgwdgQfoUngOSU1oV7_uFJuUCZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2249.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wY6FKewWZiA/YLZ2lSzZ6oI/AAAAAAAAtc8/fSBFWlKgwdgQfoUngOSU1oV7_uFJuUCZQCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_2249.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div>She finally lay down for a while, but was hopeful when she heard another car pull up next to us.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KVLyQe_E6uA/YLZ2lTuonnI/AAAAAAAAtc0/qvssPVbd8Jwu6Djn0mrVE2CffNxgZ5e9gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2250.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KVLyQe_E6uA/YLZ2lTuonnI/AAAAAAAAtc0/qvssPVbd8Jwu6Djn0mrVE2CffNxgZ5e9gCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_2250.JPEG" width="300" /></a></div>There was a doggo in that car! I followed the chatter on a neighborhood Face Book page and knew that there would be people taking their kids out for Trick or Treat, so we got some supplies and were ready to see the kids and their costumes!</p><p>Mary and I bagged up the candy, a few pieces per bag, and set them out on a table so the kids could take what they wanted and not have to reach in a big bowl filled with all the other little hands that would have reached in the big bowl. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N0iEvhMCc3E/X57bD4RN6RI/AAAAAAAAtJc/PDSEgxQd2Zw4xPPHgDqjSP8qMlRY1d2lQCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_0431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N0iEvhMCc3E/X57bD4RN6RI/AAAAAAAAtJc/PDSEgxQd2Zw4xPPHgDqjSP8qMlRY1d2lQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_0431.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-24VhsoCl-1U/X57bD3aEbJI/AAAAAAAAtJY/T3c8v8zwaxULfr1g4C2eK1hllPRSGcG4wCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_0432.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-24VhsoCl-1U/X57bD3aEbJI/AAAAAAAAtJY/T3c8v8zwaxULfr1g4C2eK1hllPRSGcG4wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_0432.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Bill and I sat away from the table and greeted everyone who marched up the drive.</p><p>The dogs didn't know what was going on, of course, but we had fun trying to get them ready for the evening.</p><p>Ellie has always loved getting 'dressed'. She does all the good dog things. She loves catching sky raisins (flies) and loves watching light reflecting on the walls. Sometimes a bit OCD. She'll stare at lights and shadows on the walls for a long time. Spot a fly and she'll sit there and stare at it until it goes on it's merry way or she's lucky enough to catch it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hRV15rZrrRw/X4sVz21tR_I/AAAAAAAAtHw/9uTqux09160PXfOAJ28tuQ1-LqhxOeJpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1024/IMG_1593.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hRV15rZrrRw/X4sVz21tR_I/AAAAAAAAtHw/9uTqux09160PXfOAJ28tuQ1-LqhxOeJpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_1593.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She loves bubbles, too. She will jump around the yard snapping away at those soapy bubbles floating around, filled with light from the sun, just as happy as can be.</div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2bf3RJJwo8o" width="320" youtube-src-id="2bf3RJJwo8o"></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She also really loves a good ball. (What Lab doesn't? Well, Ellie, not so much, but...)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1dpH4bg2xbA/X4sVjvjLuxI/AAAAAAAAtHg/W9ZU4jVyJX09jtm_cdj1SwqX8R74KpOtgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1024/IMG_1817.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="575" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1dpH4bg2xbA/X4sVjvjLuxI/AAAAAAAAtHg/W9ZU4jVyJX09jtm_cdj1SwqX8R74KpOtgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_1817.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Thursday she had a day of bubble catching and a couple of throws of the ball in the house. It was too much, I guess, because Friday morning, as Bill is leaving for work, he tells me Maddie hasn't gotten up out of the bedroom. I found her in the bedroom near the door. She would cry whenever she moved.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She lay in the hallway all morning. I sat with her every few minutes and checked on her often, wondering what in the world we were going to do. She has had trouble with her hips and legs for a while now and we are really careful about how much jumping and running after the ball she does, but Thursday was just a bit too much for her, I guess.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I reached out on the neighborhood page asking if anyone knew of a vet who made house calls. As slight as the possibilities were I had to ask. I had no idea how to get Maddie into the car even if we were able to get a vet appointment. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When Mary got up she managed to get Maddie up and outside to go potty. Her poor back legs were shaking and I could see she was having trouble. She stood on the patio a few minutes, legs shaking and her tail straight down. (It's never straight down.) She finally made it back in the house and laid down on the rug right inside the door. We got her into a dog bed next to where she was and she stayed there for a couple of hours. Mary sat down on the floor and fed her by hand. She was hungry and ate all she was given.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I talked to the vet's office where we took Annabell when she was hurt. The first regular opening for an appointment is October 28, but the emergency vet would be available. I told her I would keep an eye on her for a little longer and call back if we thought we should go in to see the vet.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She rested all day, and seemed to be better and better. She yipped once getting up out of the dog bed, but, even though she struggled, she seemed to be feeling a little better. Even snapped at the fly that kept landing on her while she rested.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">By evening she was much better, but still walking carefully. She ate her dinner and had some quality begging time when dinner was being consumed. Her eyes were bright. Her tail was up and wagging. I think she's feeling a lot better. A vet appointment will be made and we will keep an eye on her, of course, being careful of how much Lab antics will be allowed, and take her sooner to the emergency vet if the need arises, but I think we have gotten through the worst of it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9zFyVbYeMjk/X4sVWGcrmVI/AAAAAAAAtHc/iouASJ0W6d4zGH7YS_XO7f6UuegxLvE4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_1630.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9zFyVbYeMjk/X4sVWGcrmVI/AAAAAAAAtHc/iouASJ0W6d4zGH7YS_XO7f6UuegxLvE4gCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_1630.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><p></p>Deannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739771416654715640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237459302476647528.post-74832778041492075532020-09-02T08:06:00.002-07:002020-09-02T08:06:49.578-07:00Looking forward to all things Fall?<p>We can all agree, I think, that this year has been more than crazy. So many things. It's not hard to imagine looking forward to something in the future. Anything. The little things. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oo_9IMkVfe8/X0-y4pT1QTI/AAAAAAAAtDU/eWmXktvOJdYeb0l_kRCv2BMDDlz3GAjmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/Apple%2BHill%2Bapples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oo_9IMkVfe8/X0-y4pT1QTI/AAAAAAAAtDU/eWmXktvOJdYeb0l_kRCv2BMDDlz3GAjmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s0/Apple%2BHill%2Bapples.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p>Although Fall Festivals will not be happening around here, I'm sure, I'm looking forward to being able to go back to <a href="https://www.applehillca.com/" target="_blank">Apple Hill </a>one day soon. The stands. The art. The orchards. The festive atmosphere. I have really good memories of this place.</p><p>Fall arriving brings visions of cooler weather (not for a while), the beginning of the holiday season, (people already talking about Halloween here), the sights and smells of the season. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AhqAXGQKxTE/X0-zBbxnYxI/AAAAAAAAtDY/03XUpXu0R9suRcyrkwlZLcfa4VXOmuM7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s3534/fall%2Bcandles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2562" data-original-width="3534" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AhqAXGQKxTE/X0-zBbxnYxI/AAAAAAAAtDY/03XUpXu0R9suRcyrkwlZLcfa4VXOmuM7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/fall%2Bcandles.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p>As candles fly off the shelves every year I am so thankful that I learned about the negative effects of these items. Wished I had learned about it sooner, but you only know what you know until you know better. </p><p>I'm not going to get on the soap box about all the things, but I encourage you to do some research, especially if you love your candles. I did for a long time and still miss them... until I get close to them. Then I remember why I love my diffuser. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.youngliving.com/blog/replace-your-candles-with-these-6-diffuser-blends/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="445" data-original-width="1160" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VuigXq3uFc4/X0-zT2-fawI/AAAAAAAAtDo/zH91w22DauEslGaQ_1hqXw0WXsKi74dSACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/Blog_Home-sweet_smelling-home_Replace-your-candles-with-these-6-diffuser-blends_Header_US.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">Jump on over to the </span><a href="https://www.youngliving.com/blog/replace-your-candles-with-these-6-diffuser-blends/" style="text-align: left;" target="_blank">Young Living Blog, The Lavender Life</a><span style="text-align: left;">, and take a look at these diffuser blends that will want to try! Off to Florida, then Georgia. Flat. Moved to Vegas and the views of the mountains were awesome! A short drive to Mt. Charleston and it was wonderful to drive a bit of winding roads and see the pine trees! It was awesome! Another relatively short drive and we could be in Utah where we discovered Duck Creek and some beautiful mountain driving! </p><p>I grew up going to <a href="https://www.bigbear.com/" target="_blank">Big Bear</a> where my grandfather had property. A lot of good memories there. When Bill and I got married (in Lake Tahoe) I found my new mountain paradise. We didn't go too often, but it was close to home in Sacramento. We went camping a few times and made the drive a few times. I didn't know how much I would miss it when we left California.</p><p>But we're back!</p><p>I tried to visit Tahoe a couple of times since we've moved back to this side of the country, but it never worked out. It's no news that this move back to California has been a pretty stressful one, so Friday Mary and I decided to take a drive and see Lake Tahoe. It's only a couple of hours away and we needed some driving time. Mary has never been there, so she was looking forward to seeing what I'd been describing for a while!</p><p>My favorite memory of Lake Tahoe is when we stayed at <a href="https://www.zephyrcove.com/lodging/zephyr-cove-resort/" target="_blank">Zephyr Cove </a> along with my brother and his family. And this picture is still a favorite. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RTTY7EzCKdM/X0vMNFZYWII/AAAAAAAAtBY/3810Nc50rs4Le_H5WHhQtOUEftaJQpHfACLcBGAsYHQ/s800/1995%2BBill%2B%2526%2BMary%2Bat%2BLake%2BTahoe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="529" data-original-width="800" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RTTY7EzCKdM/X0vMNFZYWII/AAAAAAAAtBY/3810Nc50rs4Le_H5WHhQtOUEftaJQpHfACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/1995%2BBill%2B%2526%2BMary%2Bat%2BLake%2BTahoe.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>That's Bill and Dayna walking along the beach. I love the snow on the mountains in the distance.</p><p>Mary and I got up to the Lake around noon and, of course, it looks a lot different these days, but enjoyed the drive through town, passed the casinos and found Zephyr Cove pretty easy. We decided to drive a bit and see what there was to see because I don't remember every driving past Zephyr Cove. We hoped to find someplace to stop and visit the lake. Say hello. Feel the breeze.</p><p>Turned out there wasn't anywhere obvious along the way, so we turned around.</p><p>We pulled into a turn out to get some shots of the lake. The first thing we noticed, though, was this huge pine cone just sitting on a rock. Maddie would love it! (She loves to play with pine cones)</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVY1ij67IJo/X0vRzRsxzSI/AAAAAAAAtCM/Tq_Qc14z-KU0DKfbqqoHhGmXc8A-gusIwCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/8_28_20%2BLake%2BTahoe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVY1ij67IJo/X0vRzRsxzSI/AAAAAAAAtCM/Tq_Qc14z-KU0DKfbqqoHhGmXc8A-gusIwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/8_28_20%2BLake%2BTahoe.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XEyGfMN85E4/X0vRzdQ1b1I/AAAAAAAAtCQ/pFk-BV2ncyg6fkH5L7Kg0cgKeUQJgcV8QCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9448.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XEyGfMN85E4/X0vRzdQ1b1I/AAAAAAAAtCQ/pFk-BV2ncyg6fkH5L7Kg0cgKeUQJgcV8QCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9448.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IKku09D5jw0/X0vRzRxox-I/AAAAAAAAtCU/RBPYL3teVBwX-m7uhIjCSgTDR8B6nIzIACLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IKku09D5jw0/X0vRzRxox-I/AAAAAAAAtCU/RBPYL3teVBwX-m7uhIjCSgTDR8B6nIzIACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9450.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Re8x75MDTbY/X0vR0Kg_pKI/AAAAAAAAtCY/-deABoJ4m_4J41mFBV2NdtrqrINUeMNZgCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9451.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Re8x75MDTbY/X0vR0Kg_pKI/AAAAAAAAtCY/-deABoJ4m_4J41mFBV2NdtrqrINUeMNZgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9451.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gAkCD3kNNq8/X0vR0nZzr2I/AAAAAAAAtCg/nymMpyzZ_goVNO10TOJ6xNpWoDslxKzZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9453.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gAkCD3kNNq8/X0vR0nZzr2I/AAAAAAAAtCg/nymMpyzZ_goVNO10TOJ6xNpWoDslxKzZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9453.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4oOxOV_VZC0/X0vR0_LALOI/AAAAAAAAtCk/VvQMlzZPxO85nOvezHq4vJW0Dh-8ZGePQCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9454.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4oOxOV_VZC0/X0vR0_LALOI/AAAAAAAAtCk/VvQMlzZPxO85nOvezHq4vJW0Dh-8ZGePQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9454.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--7SstFXDLkU/X0vR1sZ5AmI/AAAAAAAAtCs/ilBHYdxLo8Eq_-gml564fe7D71tVbqJLwCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9456.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--7SstFXDLkU/X0vR1sZ5AmI/AAAAAAAAtCs/ilBHYdxLo8Eq_-gml564fe7D71tVbqJLwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9456.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p>Except for the power lines, the view was beautiful! </p><p>Then we headed back to Zephyr Cove, noticing the dozens of cars parked along the highway just before the entrance, and pulled into the parking lot. To the fee station. Where it cost $12.00 to park, but we were welcome to go park on the highway and walk in for free.</p><p>No thanks.</p><p>We drove around a bit nearby hoping to come upon someone leaving so we could snag a parking spot, but the walk would have been too much for us (right now) especially since we didn't intend on spending the day. We just wanted to say hello and snap a few pictures. </p><p>We headed back toward<a href="https://tahoesouth.com/emerald-bay/" target="_blank"> Emerald Bay</a>. We saw the turnoff for that earlier and decided to take a gander. The drive there was really pretty, but certainly not a big highway. There were a couple really scary hair-pin turns along the way, but everyone was driving responsibly (surprise!) so we did not end up over the cliff. </p><p>We pulled into a viewing spot and were lucky to find a place to park.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MD4J5yw22IE/X0vSeXw78II/AAAAAAAAtDE/yOLG_Rn25ekvR4O8oGjWHphxuWC5iZrjACLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9457.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MD4J5yw22IE/X0vSeXw78II/AAAAAAAAtDE/yOLG_Rn25ekvR4O8oGjWHphxuWC5iZrjACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9457.jpg" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4Rs01xGmF0/X0vO1E1X8XI/AAAAAAAAtBo/UOI97g7YbuAt_4MB8vrKiMH6AXUIJXevwCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/8_28_20%2BEmerald%2BBay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4Rs01xGmF0/X0vO1E1X8XI/AAAAAAAAtBo/UOI97g7YbuAt_4MB8vrKiMH6AXUIJXevwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/8_28_20%2BEmerald%2BBay.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LpfcszrNhsw/X0vO1Ev1LTI/AAAAAAAAtBs/mwAA7ydJUcgjn4iyHzGRYOPesoodOcsDwCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9459.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LpfcszrNhsw/X0vO1Ev1LTI/AAAAAAAAtBs/mwAA7ydJUcgjn4iyHzGRYOPesoodOcsDwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9459.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cskxIkcH5WQ/X0vO1HFDVII/AAAAAAAAtBk/I3XZdYYR9ykD6A_UUwT3zHQN6hRMR-dHQCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9460.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cskxIkcH5WQ/X0vO1HFDVII/AAAAAAAAtBk/I3XZdYYR9ykD6A_UUwT3zHQN6hRMR-dHQCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9460.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ja7k7KVCufg/X0vO13hAplI/AAAAAAAAtBw/OyBDUhn4wqQUgTvuajYzc2Eh39N4-Wn7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ja7k7KVCufg/X0vO13hAplI/AAAAAAAAtBw/OyBDUhn4wqQUgTvuajYzc2Eh39N4-Wn7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9462.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fi3Nrymvho8/X0vO2ax90RI/AAAAAAAAtB0/tH7etS8eY5ot1emFWT-lPzllmZbQKbr4QCLcBGAsYHQ/s800/IMG_9464.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fi3Nrymvho8/X0vO2ax90RI/AAAAAAAAtB0/tH7etS8eY5ot1emFWT-lPzllmZbQKbr4QCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_9464.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p>Mary brought her 'big' camera and probably got some really cool shots, but I haven't had a chance to steal those from her yet.</p><p>We headed toward home after a bit. Had to get the calculator out.) It's changed here quite a bit and since being here only a bit over a month now, one of the things I had forgotten (or didn't really notice before) was the bugs!</p><p>Vegas was the only place we lived that we didn't have a huge bug problem (if you don't count the grasshopper invasion). </p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSk5BwaFPX4" target="_blank">Grasshopper invasion </a> <<<< Click that<br /></p><p>Our first month here in California I've noticed a ton of bugs (okay, a few) that I really wouldn't be disappointed if we weren't being reacquainted with.</p><p>First and foremost, mosquitoes.</p><p>Ick.</p><p>So I'm sharing this link that I've save for a while in my email so I can find it again. We waited 6 months for the house to sell and were excited to finally be on our way. Mary and I, along with the three dogs were getting on a plane on May 9th. Bill had gotten a job promotion and this was our chance to move back west. Who could refuse one more move when your husband gets a promotion? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Fast forward to March, 2020.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We started looking at a neighborhood with a beautiful one story home located just over the hills in a little town called Pahrump. Yes. Weird little name. Weird little town. Not much there. But quiet. Not like the bustling Vegas streets. A planned community with a golf course, a restaurant and pretty tree-lined streets.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vnqoqF3cXdY/Xt48SkBaJbI/AAAAAAAAstU/2H1uqfJOJo0bf6YfMCjtriUU9xHBOFRyQCK4BGAsYHg/s2048/Mountain%2BFalls%2BPahrump.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1194" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vnqoqF3cXdY/Xt48SkBaJbI/AAAAAAAAstU/2H1uqfJOJo0bf6YfMCjtriUU9xHBOFRyQCK4BGAsYHg/s320/Mountain%2BFalls%2BPahrump.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We put an offer on the Pahrump house and spent a week getting the town home ready to list, packing up most everything into the garage so we could have an open house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">About two weeks into March, we all know what happened. COVID19 and the stay at home orders. Everything closed down and Bill started working from home. The news made it all very scary, so we were glad to be at home. The dogs really loved Bill being home all the time! They got used to it real fast!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Of course, house showings stopped. Our Open House was both Saturday and Sunday the week of the 21st. Our realtor set up virtual showings and worked hard to get our place noticed, but we just sat here. Waiting. But we were just moving to Pahrump and the owners of the home we put an offer in on were very gracious and were willing to wait, too. What choice did they have?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Boom.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bill gets a phone call and finds out that Gulfstream is closing the Las Vegas facility. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">What the major fuck?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here we go again.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In 2003 Bill worked for United Airlines. We left California in 1995 for Indiana when UAL built a shiny new maintenance facility. It was our first big move and it put an end to Bill's 100 mile daily commute to work. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We thought this would be our home. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After a few years we built a home. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">About 9 months later we had to move. The facility got shut down because of a bickering war between UAL and the City of Indianapolis. We landed in North Florida in a really little town called Lake City. About 7 years in we bought a house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">They closed the facility in Lake City.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Gulfstream snatched Bill up right away when he applied and moving to Savannah was more appealing than having to move to someplace cold with United. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In 2013 we built a house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">2018 moving again. But this was a good move! We were excited! And off we went.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And here we are again. Garage is packed up. We're waiting to move. Back to Northern California, where we started 32 years ago. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Things are opening up here in Las Vegas and we had two showings this last weekend. Our realtor said both parties were very interested. As of this Monday morning, we are waiting to see if either will make an offer as Bill heads to Lincoln to work this week and look for homes.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, here we are.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We have promised the dogs there would be no planes involved in the move. Any help would be good for those little things, so off I was online looking for information.<br />
<br />
As with everything else in this world today, I don't trust everything I hear and read, so in my research, if I find something that resonates with what I'm thinking I look for multiple opinions. I read through them all, note the similarities, throw out the absurdities, and form my questions to ask the doctor when we see him.<br />
<br />
One of the things I was researching was <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=cortisol+function&oq=Cortisol&aqs=chrome.2.0l6.4558j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8" target="_blank">cortisol</a> (That's a link. Learn what it is if you want) and it's job with the adrenals. It raised many questions, so I started looking further.<br />
<br />
At the same time I was watching a health symposium online, listening to many doctors and patients discussing autoimmune disorders. This term, autoimmune disease, was thrown at us a couple of times by traditional doctors as they threw their hands in the air and proclaimed they 'could do nothing because it's probably an autoimmune issue or it's all in your head'.<br />
<br />
Because we are supposed to 'trust' our (so-called) doctors and that what they tell us is the truth and nothing but the truth, the term 'autoimmune' did not stay in the front of my brain to look into it further.<br />
<br />
SUCH a long story in such a short time, but the gist of it is that while listening to this symposium, suddenly I heard a doctor list off all of Mary's symptoms. Not one of the symptoms, but ALL of the symptoms that she has been having for years.<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Insomnia</li>
<li>Temperature dysregulation</li>
<li>Hormonal dysfunction</li>
<li>Vertigo and dizziness</li>
<li>Chronic sinus infections</li>
<li>Adrenal Fatigue</li>
<li>Multiple chemical sensitivities</li>
<li>Mold toxicity</li>
<li>Brain Fog (memory and concentration problems)</li>
<li>Migraine Headaches</li>
<li>Joint Pain</li>
<li>Carpal tunnel</li>
<li>Anxiety</li>
<li>Asthma</li>
<li>Shortness of breath</li>
<li>Chest pain</li>
<li>Severe Allergies</li>
</ul>
These were all the things PLUS so many more that this doctor's wife had lived with. What started it?<br />
<br />
LYME DISEASE<br />
<br />
It came back to me that Mary and I had been talking not too long ago about when she had found a tick on her side and Bill had removed it. We never thought another thing about it. That was about eight years ago. She didn't have a rash after that, as far as any of us can remember, but guess what? You don't have to have one. It is not always an occurrence.<br />
<br />
Heavy Metal Toxicity can also exhibit many of the same things and there was an incident at a school in Georgia with mercury. The school was evacuated. The classroom closed. We had to take the clothes she was wearing to be destroyed. Yeah.<br />
<br />
I called our functional doctor and made an appointment to see him so we could ask some questions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MkzzGMaJ86U/XR4bDXHvVfI/AAAAAAAArZ0/ZaGcGQlrXu8e-JPku6lZwM-EhDoYVjP_wCLcBGAs/s1600/lyme-disease-symptoms-chart-large.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1021" data-original-width="800" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MkzzGMaJ86U/XR4bDXHvVfI/AAAAAAAArZ0/ZaGcGQlrXu8e-JPku6lZwM-EhDoYVjP_wCLcBGAs/s320/lyme-disease-symptoms-chart-large.gif" width="250" /></a></div>
When we told the nurse why we were there and I stated we wanted to know if we could get Mary tested for Lyme Disease, we got the standard, 'Was there a rash?' After 3 lengthy explanations to 3 people, including the doctor, he finally did his thing and, lo and behold, what he found lined up with Lyme Disease.<br />
<br />
Now for more reading and searching. The common denominator in most everything I read, (except traditional medicine, which only wants to treat Lyme Disease with massive doses of antibiotics) is a compromised immune system. While we are following our functional doctor's advice, we are working on healing and boosting Mary's immune system.<br />
<br />
Although we are following the doctor's advice as it pertains to Lyme Disease, we are not considering it a label and throwing our hands in the air declaring the this IS it. We going where the path leads us and any treatment for this label is beneficial to whatever else we find. Basically, Mary needs a healthy body and she does not have one.<br />
<br />
<br />
It is NOT <i>just</i> that I did not know WHAT processed food was while I was raising the girls. It's all we knew. It's all anyone knew. We were told it was GOOD for us. (Trust us! We know what's good for you.) It took me too long to figure it out for myself. It takes some research and really deep digging sometimes to find the truth about anything.<br />
<br />
Our traditional 'physicians' certainly aren't helping.<br />
<br />
If you don't think so, consider the S.A.D.--- Standard American Diet = Standard American Disease<br />
<br />
(won't step completely on my soap box. most people don't want to hear it)<br />

Really?<br />
Well, it's true!<br />
Back in the <i>film </i>days of photography, I wasn't too good at taking pictures and I didn't take too many. The cost of developing pictures was not in the budget much of the time. The pictures I do have from that time are precious, though, blurred, no real composition, just snaps of this and that.<br />
<br />
The arrival of children changed my picture taking, but still, with film, I don't have as many pictures as I actually thought I had.<br />
<br />
Then, here comes digital photography!<br />
<br />
I still get my pictures printed. With the entrance of digital photography in my life came scrapbooking, too!<br />
<br />
Oh, Lord.<br />
<br />
I have SO many pictures.<br />
<br />
Do you?<br />
<br />
I had to come up with a way to <i>really </i>organize them so I knew what I had. I don't want them just sitting in boxes. My first few attempts were confusing, actually, and I had to do things differently until I figured out what worked best for me. (Especially, when I'd find I had printed events multiple times because I didn't realize I had already printed them.)<br />
<br />
That's the key; <i>what works for me</i>. You need to figure out what works <i>best for you.</i><br />
<br />
First up is the process. From beginning to end; well, maybe not the end, but you'll see.<br />
<br />
Here are the things I do with pictures.<br />
<br />
1.Take the picture (or 100 pictures)<br />
<br />
2. Edit the picture (or 100 pictures); this includes culling the bad pictures. You know, the accidental shot of you shoes on the pavement as you pull your phone out of your pocket. Yup. Those. Or picking one or two of the 100 shots of the dog playing because they're just so cute.<br />
<br />
I have had a few different editing apps and programs over the years and struggled so much with most of them. These days I pretty much edit all my photos right on my iPhone. I also use the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pictapgo/id585307861?mt=8" target="_blank">Pic-Tap-Go </a>app. It's easy. It's awesome. I don't have to remember how to use it when I pull it up, because I forget that type of stuff so easily now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fx43fp8ctFI/XQJtZYJuYHI/AAAAAAAArV4/WA2iqQnQPN4U6BufMxUml_BuEcQy39wJwCLcBGAs/s1600/PicTapGoSS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="816" data-original-width="1264" height="412" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fx43fp8ctFI/XQJtZYJuYHI/AAAAAAAArV4/WA2iqQnQPN4U6BufMxUml_BuEcQy39wJwCLcBGAs/s640/PicTapGoSS.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This app is available for both Apple and Android phones.</div>
<br />
<br />
3. Organizing and tagging photos/occasions.<br />
This is a multi-faceted step for me, because I really don't trust digital storage completely, so I have my photos online, on my photo organization program, and folders that I save on external hard drives. Yes, plural. One for archiving and one EHD to use when I'm actually working on photos. (Back it up! Back it up!)<br />
<br />

</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">On the back of the card I jot down what is going on in the pictures! </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
4. Get the pictures in Albums. (Been really lax on that for quite a while! Getting back to it and it makes me happy!)<br />
<br />
How you organize and display your pictures is all in what makes you happy! It can be a rather daunting task if you've never organized your 15 GB of pictures you have on your phone, but a few minutes at a time of reviewing and deleted some of those will get you on the right track.<br />
<br />
I admit, I have a hard time deleting photos. Much harder to throw a printed one away, but I do more than I used to. (This is where the archive EHD comes in handy. If I just can't let it go forever, I can leave a copy of it there and delete it (them) off my phone or computer.)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ws2F3rRA2Hk/XNLxd15bqeI/AAAAAAAArP0/KzBwnQpXAKw-LcdA6LT1Eqtg2pGS2oSxwCLcBGAs/s1600/SS%2Bof%2Bpicture%2Bfiles%2BWindows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="840" data-original-width="1600" height="334" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ws2F3rRA2Hk/XNLxd15bqeI/AAAAAAAArP0/KzBwnQpXAKw-LcdA6LT1Eqtg2pGS2oSxwCLcBGAs/s640/SS%2Bof%2Bpicture%2Bfiles%2BWindows.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">These are the photo folders on my computer. They are all dated and named with what I gave them when I labeled the photo. If there are multiple photos, the folder is named and all the pix (sometimes 2, sometimes 50) from that event go in the folder. I don't use all the pictures and do go through and delete more as I choose what I want to print.<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CFwH4ld6ISg/XQJ0WksSesI/AAAAAAAArWQ/bmiW8frK9tkkk9qvrDrUw1fhcBmjns-YgCLcBGAs/s1600/SS%2Bof%2BHistorian%2Bmain%2Bpage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="979" data-original-width="1600" height="390" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CFwH4ld6ISg/XQJ0WksSesI/AAAAAAAArWQ/bmiW8frK9tkkk9qvrDrUw1fhcBmjns-YgCLcBGAs/s640/SS%2Bof%2BHistorian%2Bmain%2Bpage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I use the <a href="https://www.forever.com/products/historian-4-software" target="_blank">Historian program by Forever</a>, originally purchased from Creative Memories. There are many photo organization programs, but I've had this, well, forever, and it still works the best for me. You can also edit on this program. I can also mark each photo with it's print status; Not to print; Print; and Already Printed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ei1KzQH4kGg/XQJ0WTw-EhI/AAAAAAAArWk/AV8at9UGV0caqfU5dtDve4_kDzVXWd1hwCEwYBhgL/s1600/Historian%2Bfull%2Bscreen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="817" data-original-width="1600" height="326" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ei1KzQH4kGg/XQJ0WTw-EhI/AAAAAAAArWk/AV8at9UGV0caqfU5dtDve4_kDzVXWd1hwCEwYBhgL/s640/Historian%2Bfull%2Bscreen.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I upload my pictures into this program and label them the exact way that I did individually and the computer folders. The added benefit of this program is that I can tag them multiple ways; name, event, place. It also has facial recognition. I can look for all pictures with the tag 'Bailey' and I can see all the pictures of Bailey. (And there is a lot!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This screen shot shows a single picture. You can see I've named the picture and also the highlighted tag on the left has the same name. I could also tag this with Bailey and Mary and it will come up in those categories.<br />

I'm not able to put the lid on this box, but they will be moved to a box that will close when I either empty one or order another one. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
In short, you can have as many or as few pictures as you want, but if you can't find them to view, scrapbook or share, what good are they?<br />
<br />
I don't stress too much about editing every single picture. I use pictures that are a little blurry, where composition could be improved upon, and, every now and then, I've been know to use that 'head cut off' picture that happens more often than I'd like to admit.<br />
<br />
Organize your photos the way it works best for you, even though you will find that you may have to switch up that process from time to time to really know what works best for you!<br />
<br />
If you have a huge collection, start with your current photos and work your way backward. It doesn't have to be overwhelming if you take baby steps.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
It's time to be Selfish.<br />
<br />
Damn Right!<br />
<br />
Take care of yourself.<br />
<br />
Love yourself.<br />
<br />
Reinvent yourself.<br />
<br />
Question yourself.<br />
<br />
Treat yourself.<br />
<br />
You can still be kind, giving and caring to others and be Selfish.<br />
<br />
You can still explore who you are and make changes; question all those lies you've been told and believed and be Selfish.<br />
<br />
You can drag yourself out of the crap, slowly sometimes, still shaking off the stench of those that did not love you and still find things beautiful.<br />
<br />
You can find joy through the pain.<br />
<br />
Be Selfish.<br />
<br />
You are important.<br />
<br />
You are not what they believe.<br />
<br />
You are not what they think.<br />
<br />
You are not the shadow of their insecurities.<br />
<br />
Be Selfish.<br />
<br />
You are loved.<br />
<br />
You are cared for.<br />
<br />
You are admired.<br />
<br />
By you.<br />
<br />
Be Selfish.<br />
<br />
Shut out the lies.<br />
<br />
Shut out those who want to destroy you.<br />
<br />
You didn't know it then, but you know it now.<br />
