Bailey's Turn at the Vet!

On July 3rd, Bailey had an accident on the dog bed. Mary saw it. A pool of potty on the new dog bed. It took a bit to figure out what dog had been laying there, but later that night there was no question. Bailey was laying on the bed when Mary noticed she was laying in a puddle and looking concerned that she may be in trouble.

While cleaning up the dog bed we found a pea-sized 'stone', along with 'crystals' in the puddle. We were quite perplexed, but after doing a bit of reading we figured it was bladder stones and a call to the vet was needed.

The appointment was a week out, so we kept an eye on her; made sure she drank a lot of water, made sure she was actually going potty outside and preparing for more mishaps in the house.

She never had any more mishaps and she didn't seem in discomfort, but it didn't mean she was done with it all.

Yesterday was her vet visit, so off to Lincoln we went! She's a pretty good dog in the car, but prefers one of her friends to go along. Alone, she settles in and usually lays down for the ride, popping up to look out the window when we slow to a stop.

The visit with the vet went well. He did some lab work and we should know today what he finds. Then he will let us know if we should bring her back for an X-ray to see if she has more stones that need to be taken care of. Apparently, this is a common problem for a lot of dogs. There is a food that helps dissolve the stones. We will have to look into that.

Of course, after the visit we headed to PetsMart to get Bailey a toy. I mean, the Labs probably told her we would do that, so we just had to, right? She was a little nervous going into the store, but she did well! She wasn't too excited at the prospect of choosing a toy. Maddie is the most excited in that aisle, but we got one and were headed to the next stop!

Puppaccino!

Delicious! More please!

She didn't get a dog park visit because, well, it was later in the day so it was hotter, but the main reason was that we aren't too sure about Bailey and her 'nipping' issues. I don't quite know why she nips dogs and people, and it's only happened a couple times, but I don't want to take the chance of any incidents. She was happy enough with just coming home and telling her dog friends all about her day. And Bill was home and that's just the best thing ever!!

So we shall see how this thing works out! Right now she's seems to be the silly little dog she's always been! Kind of a crappy birthday for most, but I think she was okay with that... once we left the vet.
