All about the dogs

Things have been really hard for quite a while. Not that it matters. One thing that goes on, regardless, is the care of the pets.

Annabell is the oldest. Losing her teeth. Recovered from her weird illness before, but different. We call her Zombie Dog. She still has trouble with balance. I think she's not seeing too well. She always hungry! She sleeps a lot more. But! She's always happy. Gets around well and still screams with delight when we come home.

Maddie is also showing her age. Her face is frosty white and it's spreading over her head and to her ears. Still takes meds for her back and has trouble getting up sometimes. She's still as goofy as ever! Loves bubbles! Blow them in the yard and she's happy as a puppy. When the neighbor kids have bubbles going on and they float over the fence and Maddie has an unexpected happy bounce around the back yard. She still loves her walks even though they're not as long as they used to be. She doesn't get toys too often because they're shredded in seconds.

Elephant (Ellie) is doing great! She has some tummy issues, but the change in diet over the last few months has helped and she's a happy dog. She's the most expressive dog out of all of them and will let you know when she wants something for as long as it takes. She watches over Mary and lets us know when something is really wrong. She loves walks and will let us know when she thinks we've been neglectful in that area. She loves to run and really loves to get off-leash!

And finally, Bailey. What a character she is. She has her own health issues. She has bladder stones. This means that if she's going to pass a stone her bladder just empties wherever she is. Poor dog. She looks so ashamed when this happens even though she never gets punished for it. She's been getting some natural supplements that are helping and she has not had a problem in a while, but we always keep an eye on her to see how she is feeling.

There is a path not far from the house that Ellie just loves! Well, except for when the train comes down the track. Yesterday, we decided to see how Bailey would do on a short off-lease walk. She did really well! She and Ellie do well together, and it was no surprise that the two of them had a great time on this little walk. Of course, we had to pull out a whole lot of weeds that got tangled up in her fur, but I think she had a great time.

    1. Yup! Sometimes it's really a 'what was I thinking' kind of day.
